How to write a screenplay


So you might have a got a great idea about a story & are eager to see it on screen. 
So, here is how you can write your spec script.

1. Learn about the main elements of a screenplay

Screenplay elements :- 

• Scene heading - Int. / Ext., Location & time all come in scene heading.
Ex - INT. / INT. - LOCATION - DAY / NIGHT

• Action - It describes what's happening on the screen.
Ex - The protagonist brings out his colt & gets ready to shoot the first person he sees.

• Character - Name of the Character. You can put OS in bracket if the character is off screen.

• Parenthetical - It is optional to use parenthetical, it describes the action by the character during a dialogue.

• Dialogue - Try to keep your dialogues short, & also make sure that it matches with the scene.

So now you have learned about the main elements but you should also know where to use those elements. So, here I have a Screenplay Format for you.


3. Getting started

So now you know everything about writing a spec script but ''where to start?'' Must have popped into your mind.

For that you must keep writing screenplay until you get master in it.
